You killed me… The Penguin killed me… Batman killed me… that’s… three lives down. You got enough in there to finish me off?

humansofny: “She always responds with empathy. She meets anger with empathy. She meets hate with empathy. She’ll take the time to imagine what happened to a person when they were five or six years old. And she’s made me a more empathetic person. I had a very fractured relationship with my father. Before he died, she made me remember things I didn’t want to remember. She made me remember the good times
I donβt think Iβll ever get tired of you or you telling me that you love me back.

“Merritt Tierce’s debut novel, Love Me Back, is a gorgeous, dirty razor of prose—sharp and dangerous and breathtaking.” —Roxane Gay, author of An Untamed State and Bad Feminist
“Tierce’s prose possesses the force, bluntness and surprise of a sucker punch. Love Me Back is an unflinching and galvanic novel full of heart and heartache; one of my favorite books of the last few years.” —Carrie Brownstein, co-creator of Portlandia

Forrest Gump is easily a top 5 film for me. The way Tom Hanks portrays the character is done so well. This is one of my favorite scenes where Forrest and Jenny are parting ways after a magical night together in Washington DC. Before they have to go he gives her the Medal of Honor that he earned by listening to her advice to run when danger comes. She asks him ‘Why are you so good to me?’ His retort is 'You’re my girl!’. I love the delivery of this line. He says it so empathically and enthusiastically. Like that’s the most rhetorical question ever and that the answer should be obvious. That she is the one and only girl that he thinks about. Some people love the film because it is quite the interesting life that he leads and I enjoy that part very much. But I really enjoy the romantic portions of the film very much. You’re my girl!
“I decided that I was a feminist. This seemed uncomplicated to me. But my recent research has shown me that feminism has become an unpopular word. Women are choosing not to identify as feminists. Apparently, [women’s expression is] seen as too strong, too aggressive, anti-men, unattractive.”
